Develop NOHSIC’s organizational capacity, structure and sustainability for initiating workforce development solutions

Brand, position and increase awareness and support of NOHSIC in Northeast Ohio

Advance NOHSIC goals through effective federal and state advocacy efforts
2011 Activities Towards Goals
- NOHSIC is an active partner for WorkAdvance, a local initiative under the leadership of Towards’ Employment training and placing 120 low-income workers for positions in healthcare
- NOHSIC is partnering with Global Cleveland, the Ohio Board of Regents, NEO ABLE, and
Upwardly Global to recruit, educate and train 145 healthcare-skilled immigrant workers living in the region or seeking to live in the region

Submitted a grant to the US Department of Labor train 150 incumbent workers by designing targeted outreach and a mentoring program and training 350 long-term unemployed workers

NOHSIC continues to participate with WVIZ/Ideastream through their Career Exploration program

NOHSIC hosted our First Military Job Fair with 159 attendees and 8 regional partners seeking to place our military personnel

NOHSIC partnered with The Cleveland Foundation and its public/private program with the Cuyahoga County Family & Children First Council's MyCom initiative to host its first Future Healthcare Workforce Summit including sponsorships from Cleveland Medical Mart & Convention Center, NEOMed, Cleveland State University, and Cuyahoga Community College

Partnership with the Department of Labor Assistant Secretary creating an alliance with the Department of Labor and their priorities

Met with Governor John Kasich regarding NOHSIC and its capabilities to assist him in delivering on his workforce plans and programs

Provided testimony to the State of Ohio and referencing our belief in developing our workforce including opportunities for our future workers through job shadow and paid work experience options

Working in partnership with the Ohio Board of Regents and US Senator Sherrod Brown’s office to realize our priorities and assist their offices with greater understanding of our workforce needs

NOHSIC hired an Executive Director to facilitate and execute the Board’s plans

Secured office space in BioEnterprise

Sought over $500,000 in grant funds to support our workforce solutions and our partnership and continue to seek out support for building regional partnerships
