English & Pathways for Healthcare Professionals
A project lead collaboratively by NOHSIC, Global Cleveland, and the
Ohio Board of Regents.
Fall Program Registration will begin August 1, 2012
The English and Healthcare Career Pathways program is a partnership seeking to assist immigrant healthcare professionals within the region and seeking an opportunity to re-engage in a healthcare career.
The targeted candidates are highly skilled and educated healthcare practitioners from other countries
who are eligible to work in the United States and seek an opportunity to engage in the healthcare system in a position relative to the position they held in their home country. These individuals may
currently reside in Northeast Ohio and need support assistance to develop their English-speaking skills to be able to compete for healthcare opportunities.
This 6-month course sponsored by NOHSIC, The Ohio Board of Regents, and Global Cleveland will be held in both the Cleveland and Akron area in Fall 2012. The program includes curriculum developed by Welcome Back, career coach assistance, screening and mock interviewing opportunities for participants, and foll0w-up support services.
Each program has a maximum number of participants at 30 and the programs are held on Saturdays.
The Cleveland program includes support from the Ohio Board of Regents, Polaris Career Center and Cleveland State University. The start date for the Fall 2012 will be announced by August 1, 2012.
The Akron program includes support from the Ohio Board of Regents, Project Learn of Summit County, ASIA Inc., the International Institute, and the University of Akron. The start date for the Fall 2012 program will be September 22, 2012.
Learn more about the program by attending one of our Community Stakeholder meetings scheduled for August 23, 2012 at Trinity Commons in Cleveland and August 21, 2012 at Summa Health System in Akron. More information is forthcoming.
